The appointments reflect AP’s focus on developing leaders from within and strengthening its national operations as the company continues to grow.

Herrera brings more than 30 years of construction experience, all with AP. He began his career with the company as an 18-year-old laborer and advanced through roles including foreman, assistant superintendent, superintendent, general superintendent, and vice president of field operations before becoming regional president of AP Mountain States.

As regional president, Herrera has led strategic planning, operations, risk management, and organizational leadership for Mountain States while taking on broader responsibilities across AP. He has also led the company’s Operational Leadership Team and helped advance companywide operational priorities.

“John understands our business from the field up, and throughout his career he has demonstrated a willingness to step beyond his own role or region to make AP stronger,” said Brad Hendrickson, chief executive officer, AP. “As we continue to grow, his experience and company-first approach will help us bring the best of AP together across our regions while continuing to deliver the local expertise and relationships our clients value.”

As COO, Herrera will provide leadership across AP’s national operations, with a focus on operational excellence, collaboration, and consistency. He will remain based in Colorado.

“I’ve had the opportunity to grow alongside AP throughout my career, and I’m excited to bring that experience to this new role,” Herrera said. “We have tremendous talent across the company. I’m looking forward to working with our teams to strengthen how we share expertise, support one another and deliver great work for our clients.”

Hill will succeed Herrera as regional president of AP Mountain States. He also brings 30 years of construction experience, all with AP, and most recently served as vice president of operations.

Hill has been part of the Mountain States leadership team and succession planning for several years. His experience spans hundreds of projects, with extensive work in K-12 and higher education construction, master planning, and complex project delivery. He also has strong ties to Colorado’s construction and education communities through industry, workforce development, and community involvement.

“Brandon knows Mountain States inside and out — our people, our clients and the communities where we work,” Hendrickson said. “He has been an important part of building the region’s success and is ready to lead it forward. Having John and Brandon move into these roles together gives us both continuity and an opportunity to keep building for the future.”

“I’m proud of what our Mountain States team has built and grateful for the opportunity to lead this next chapter,” Hill said. “We have a strong foundation, talented people and great client relationships. My focus will be on building from those strengths and continuing to create opportunities for our people and our business.”

Herrera and Hill will transition into their new roles Oct. 1.
