“Sachin’s addition reflects our continued focus on investing in areas of importance to our clients,” said Doug Clark, managing partner of Wilson Sonsini. “He is a highly regarded M&A advisor with extensive experience guiding companies through complex transactions and a perspective that aligns closely with how we serve clients—thoughtfully, collaboratively, and with a long-term view. His arrival further strengthens our New York presence and enhances the depth and reach of our corporate platform.”

Kohli joins Wilson Sonsini from Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, where he spent his entire legal career after joining as an associate in 2006 and being elected partner in 2016. Over nearly two decades, he advised an array of nationally recognized public and private companies, as well as leading private equity sponsors, on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and a broad range of other corporate matters. Clients repeatedly turn to him for counsel, underscoring his enduring relationships and a high level of trust at the board and management levels.

“I built my career at my prior firm, so this move was not made lightly,” said Kohli. “What drew me to Wilson Sonsini was its focused and intentional approach to guiding innovative companies through their most complex, high-stakes transactions—along with its institutional strength, sophisticated client base, and proven ability to execute at scale. I was looking for a platform where I could make an immediate impact and help shape what comes next. I am excited to join and contribute to the continued growth of an already exceptional M&A practice.”

Widely regarded for his pragmatic, business-oriented mindset, Kohli combines significant experience in transactional execution with ongoing strategic counsel on governance, disclosure, shareholder activism, and defensive preparedness. His cross-sector experience spans life sciences, healthcare, technology, energy, gaming, consumer, and industrials, positioning him as a go-to practitioner for companies navigating an increasingly dynamic and competitive deal environment.

Kohli has worked on numerous high-profile transactions that have shaped their respective industries, including Sanofi’s acquisitions of Blueprint Medicines, Dynavax Technologies, Provention Bio, and Bioverativ; The Dow Chemical Company’s merger of equals with DuPont and its subsequent spin-off; MGM Resorts International’s sale of MGM Growth Properties to VICI Properties; and Kroger’s proposed acquisition of Albertsons.

“Sachin’s arrival comes at a time when clients are facing a deal landscape that is increasingly nuanced, fast-moving, and strategically demanding,” said Megan Baier, a partner in the New York Corporate practice and incoming co-managing partner. “He has spent his career advising on transactions that sit at the center of those pressures, where execution and judgment matter as much as structure. That experience will be a strong complement to our New York office and our broader M&A platform.”

In addition to his client work, Kohli is active in the legal and academic communities. He serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council for the University at Buffalo School of Law and is a member of the New York City Bar Association’s Committee on Mergers & Acquisitions and Corporate Control Contests.

Kohli received his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University at Buffalo School of Law, where he served as editor-in-chief of the Buffalo Law Review; his M.B.A. from the University at Buffalo School of Management; and his B.S., cum laude, from the University at Buffalo.

“Sachin is the kind of partner clients grow with over time,” said Caz Hashemi, head of Wilson Sonsini’s Litigation Department and incoming co-managing partner. “He is not just involved in individual transactions—he is embedded in the broader arc of each company’s evolution. That continuity of counsel is increasingly rare in today’s market, and it meaningfully bolsters not only our M&A practice, but the firm as a whole.”
